Volunteer Spotlight

Charles “Charlie” Epley has been volunteering for SpiriTrust Lutheran® Touch-a-Life for five months and has been a cottage resident at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Kelly Drive for six years. Charlie not only volunteers for Touch-a-Life, but also delivers newsletters to the cottages and makes friendly visits to skilled care residents at SpiriTrust Lutheran, The Village at Sprenkle Drive.

In addition, Charlie serves in many volunteer roles at his church. Charlie said he wants to give back what he can because of all the help he was given when his wife, Joan, was in skilled care before she passed away. Charlie says, “I like volunteering because I like giving back, helping people and getting to know them.”

Harold Westgate, SpiriTrust Lutheran® Touch-a-Life volunteer driver

“Being a driver for SpiriTrust Lutheran® Touch-a-Life program is one of the best experiences I have ever had. I look forward to every client. If you try hard enough you can find something in common. I do my best to make every client feel special. I want both of us to look forward to seeing each other again.”
